PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

“Ma aro koe ki te hā o Hine-ahu-one”
Pay heed to the dignity and power of women

"She surveys a field and acquires it; from her own resources, she plants a vineyard. She works energetically; her arms are powerful." The Good News: If a woman sets her mind on something, she will get it done — no matter what
Proverbs 31:16-17

Kia Ora e te whānau,

Welcome back to our final term for this school year. We extend a special welcome to our school community the Ogayon family. Wynona Ogayon enjoyed her first day at St Joseph's School on Monday alongside Kaiyah’s sister, Emersyn, and Hunter’s sister Mackenna. We are blessed to have you all join the wonderful learning opportunities you will engage in, in Room 1 with Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Simpson.

Orchestrated by Mrs. Wagstaff and Led by our Student Leaders, we began this term with the Rosary. The Rosary holds a special and profound place in our spiritual journey, as it is a prayer of contemplation. This practice helps our tamariki learn and remember essential prayers and highlights key stories from scripture in a meaningful and memorable way as we gather together as a school faith learning community. This physical engagement helps our tamariki focus their thoughts and intentions during prayer, creating a more immersive and contemplative experience

Thank you for your support and understanding of the value we place on reciting the Rosary with
our tamariki. Together, we are helping them grow in their faith and spirituality.

We extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the Sport, Education, Community & Cultural Foundation (SEEC) for generously providing both Hockey and Cricket equipment to our school. Their aim of supporting our tamariki to easily engage with sporting activities in order to improve their health and wellbeing through a grant provided to them from Air Rescue and Community Services is most gratefully received.
School Enhancement Projects
Led by our PFG, we are excited to be able to continue using our refurbished playground. We know that there will be seating added to this structure, which our tamariki are super happy about.
Thank you Jakobs Construction
Also inspired by our PFG and painted by Jessie Hart over the holiday break, we have this amazing Mural running along the pool fence. Thank you PFG and Jessie

PFG Update (St Joseph's Parents and Friends Fundraising Group)

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to Term 4. We hope everyone had a very enjoyable school holidays.

You may have seen on our PFG Facebook page a few changes to the playground over the holidays. One very awesome change was a beautiful mural of our ranges designed and created by the very talented Jesse Harte, who once upon a time he, and his siblings, attended St Joseph’s School. If you can, follow him on Instagram to see more of his incredible work (@hrt.ark.art).

A big shout out also to Central Hawke’s Bay District Council and their Creative Communities Scheme that we applied to. They granted us $1,500.00 to go towards this mural.

Jacobs Construction have also been very busy changing our fort into an outdoor learning space. We are sure the kids will have great fun playing in this. They have also concreted in the base of a piece of new play equipment. We are hoping by next week the top can go on for the kids to have lots of fun spinning around on.

We are all extremely grateful to the above people who have helped improve our playground and we can’t thank them all enough. We still have more plans for improving our playground that are underway and the next big project starting in November is our sandpit, so watch this space!

Our Ambrose Golf Tournament is coming up really fast, there are only a few spaces left so if you are considering putting in a team, don’t muck around and get in touch with us today!!
To make this event successful we need a bit of help with donations of any kind for prizes, maybe something that you were given that you have never used and don’t need, any unused vouchers that you would like to donate. We are also looking for a couple of roasts that you might have in your freezer that we could use for dinner on the night. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of the PFG members, we appreciate any help we can get with this tournament, the more money we can raise for school the better.

Planning is also underway for our end of year raffle and will be coming out soon. We know the
prizes for this raffle are always so popular so get ready to sell as many tickets as you can.
